RISE Social × Cyber Safety Cop

Your child is growing up in two worlds. Are you equipped for both?

Chinese immigrant families navigate a gap most digital safety resources were never designed to bridge — a gap of language, culture, and three generations trying to understand each other across a smartphone screen.

The problem

A gap that goes deeper than language.

The language barrier

Nearly every digital safety resource in the United States is in English — every school handout, workshop, and website. Chinese-speaking parents are locked out of the most important conversation happening about their own children.

The cultural barrier

In many Chinese and Taiwanese families, discussing online danger — or anything connected to mental health — carries deep shame. Asian American youth are more likely to internalize harm and far less likely to report victimization.

The intergenerational rift

Grandparents raised children without the internet. Parents got smartphones as adults. Teenagers have never known a world without them. Three generations, three digital realities, no shared language for what's happening online.

The solution

This is more than a translation.

We bring safety into the spaces your community already trusts — in Mandarin, in person, and in ways that connect your whole family.

Parenting in the Digital World (4th Ed.)

📖 The book — in your language

Parenting in the Digital World (4th Ed., 2025) by Clayton Cranford, translated into Simplified and Traditional Chinese for the first time. Free copies delivered through 10–15 Chinese community centers and churches across the US.

🎓 Free Mandarin workshops

Online safety courses in Mandarin — for parents, grandparents, and elderly caregivers — delivered by Chinese-speaking facilitators at community centers and churches.

🎬 Legacy Project for your teens

Rather than fighting the pull of social media, this redirects it: teens create documentary videos about their family's history, building real skills while reconnecting generations. Scholarships available.

Cyber Safety Cop tells families what the dangers look like. RISE Social builds the safe, structured spaces where kids learn to create responsibly. Together, we close the gap between awareness and action.

The story behind this initiative

Two people, one mission.

This initiative was born where a mother's lived experience met two decades of frontline child-safety expertise.

Founder, RISE Social

Grace Huang

American Born Chinese and Taiwanese. Mother of two. Child of immigrant parents. Grace started RISE Social — and is expanding it to the Mandarin-speaking community — because she lived the gap. She knows what it means to sit at a dinner table where certain things cannot be said, and to navigate American youth culture from inside a Chinese household. When parents suppress the influencer dream, she saw, children don't stop wanting it — they just pursue it without anyone watching. Her answer wasn't to ban the dream. It was to redefine it, and build a safe place to learn it well.
